Voter Registration

Hi all, my name is Ben Sholar and I am an intern for Forward Montana Foundation here in Missoula! For those of you that don’t know, Forward Montana Foundation is a non-profit that works to engage young Montanans to better our democracy. We are an organization that was started by young people that works for young people. I am here to talk to you today about the importance of voter registration.

If folks ages 18 to 35 voted at the same rate as people 50 and older, young folks would decide every election.  How many of you are registered to vote?

If you have recently moved -- even just down the street, you will need to re-register. Registering to vote is simple and there are a few different options! One is to go to this website: www.mtvr.org/fmf and register online. While we’d don’t have FULL Online voter registration in Montana, this website will get you SUPER close. You’ll fill out all the information it is prompting you for, including your contact information; this is super important because we need to be able to reach out if the form is filled out incorrectly or is incomplete. After you submit, you’ll get a form in the mail from us. Simply sign it, fill out the highlighted sections, and  put it back in the mail in our prepaid envelope!

Our Voter Registration are boxes scattered across town and around campus where you can fill out your voter registration physically. Our VR Box locations include both Bridge Pizza locations, the Western MT LGBTQ Community Center, and Clyde Coffee.

One more thing; Check the box with “YES” next to it is for Absentee - which means that you will receive your ballot in the mail a few weeks before the election and can vote from home!
