Program Coordinator (Full-Time)

The Jeannette Rankin Peace Center (JRPC) is seeking a dynamic, organized, and community-minded Program Coordinator to support the daily operations, outreach, membership, events, and Fair Trade Store. This position plays an important role in advancing JRPC’s mission through community engagement, ethical retail, education, and program support.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $35,600–$35,900 annually

  • PTO, flexible schedule, employee discount, and health stipend

  • Full-time, approximately 36–40 hours per week

Retail or customer service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Executive Director for day-to-day operations and collaborates closely with the Fair Trade Merchandiser and Buyer on store-related responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Respond to emails, mail, and phone calls

  • Maintain organized files, databases, and shared physical spaces

  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Cover store shifts as needed

  • Support the Executive Director with administrative tasks, outreach, development, and special projects

Membership Coordination

  • Maintain JRPC’s membership database, including renewals, receipts, check processing, and correspondence

  • Assist with membership drives and outreach efforts

  • Encourage membership growth and engagement

  • Generate membership-related reports and support donor stewardship efforts

Communications & Outreach

  • Manage and update social media accounts

  • Assist with newsletters, promotional materials, and outreach campaigns

  • Support direct mailings and communications

  • Represent JRPC at community events and partner programs

  • Coordinate tabling and outreach opportunities within the Missoula community

Programs & Events

  • Assist with planning and implementation of programs, fundraisers, and community events

  • Serve on the Peace Party Planning Committee

  • Support event logistics including marketing, ticketing, outreach, and silent auction coordination

  • Assist the Executive Director with project and program management

Fair Trade Store Responsibilities

Education & Mission-Based Retail

  • Promote fair trade and alternative retail practices

  • Stay informed about vendors, artisans, and product stories

  • Maintain educational materials throughout the store

  • Create quarterly “Top 10 Products” training materials featuring product origins, producer stories, and social impact

  • Update “Dig Deeper” QR code educational materials for customers

  • Help train staff and volunteers on fair trade products and inclusive merchandise offerings

Customer & Member Service

  • Operate the retail register and assist customers with purchases

  • Welcome and support shoppers, members, and visitors

  • Answer customer questions and provide product information

  • Check membership status and encourage membership participation

  • Answer store phone calls and assist with general inquiries

Store Operations

  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized retail space

  • Assist with inventory management, pricing, displays, and merchandising

  • Ensure popular products remain stocked

  • Manage backend inventory entry and maintenance through Square

  • Coordinate supply ordering with the Executive Director

  • Participate in monthly check-ins regarding inventory, displays, and promotions

Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 36–40 hours per week between program coordination and store operations

  • Requires regular on-site presence at the Peace Center and Fair Trade Store

  • Light lifting, standing, walking, computer use, and phone interaction required
