Welcome Students!

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
~Nelson Mandela

Dear friends,education
All around us Missoula is filling up with UM students coming back to school and the excitement of a new school year for many other young people. And this year, we are thrilled to know that some of our youngsters will be attending the new Jeannette Rankin Elementary School! Education is one of the most important pursuits we humans can engage in. Rankin felt so strongly about the importance of learning that she used her estate to create a foundation to educate women. Education is key to the mission of JRPC and as Nelson Mandela reminds us, it is the most powerful weapon to change the world. Education can open our minds — when we read or travel or come in contact with cultures, beliefs, attitudes, ideas or values that are different from our own. These are all opportunities to educate ourselves, but only if we open up to what these new experiences have to offer. It is possible to read, travel or see new things without learning. We have to be willing to accept what is offered and change and that’s not always easy. Let us open up to the potential around us to learn and grow and support those in our midst who are beginning a new investment in THEIR future selves…Betsy

A light for peace went out this week. We say goodbye to Janet McGahan and our love goes out to her family. Please keep them all in your thoughts and hearts.
