The Children

“There is no such thing as other people’s children.”
~Glennon Doyle, author, activist and founder of Momastery

Dear friends,

Children torn from their parents at our border as punishment for desperate parents; ChildrenChildren held in cages; Children in Yemen orphaned by war and dying of starvation; Children in Guatemala lost in the aftermath of a volcano; Millions of children in Syria, Palestine and many other places displaced by war, famine and unrest endangered by the very need to find safe passage; Children trafficked into slavery and sex trades; Children trapped in the criminal justice system; Vulnerable children turned away at our borders; Child victims of domestic abuse and gang violence; Indigenous children disconnected from their heritage; Children forced to work in sweatshops and farms to grow our food and make our products; Child victims of genocide, past and present; Children in communities across the world — even the wealthiest and even Missoula who are hungry, homeless, abused, neglected or abandoned; Children that are part of the tired, poor, and huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. None of these children are expendable — they are all our children and seeds of our future. Let your mind see their faces and resist the words used to hide, shame or deny them — illegal, undocumented, alien and others. They belong to us and they need champions to help the world see them. Let us all be fathers and mothers. Let us open our hearts and be moved to act…Betsy
